Jana Mestdag - violin

Jana, 16 years old, is a young violinist with Belgian/Bulgarian nationality.

Born into a musical family, she commenced playing the violin at the age of five. Throughout her childhood, she exhibited a profound passion for music and underwent private lessons with professional violinists.

Since 2021, she has been a student of Erik Sluys at the Anderlecht Music Academy.

Jana has actively participated in several competitions, including Young Soloists (2021, 3rd prize; 2023, 1st prize), the Princess Christina Competition (2023, Honorable Mention) and the Breughel Concours (2024, 3rd prize)

She was chosen to be part of the Toyota Youth Orchestra in Japan and continues to perform with the Antwerp Youth Orchestra and Brussels Sinfonietta. As the 1st prize winner of the Young Soloists competition, she performed as a soloist with the Stringendo orchestra in February 2024.

In recent years, she has attended master classes both at home and abroad, such as the Encuentro Internacional de Musica in Cieza (Spain) and a violin internship in Lier. She has also graced the stage at Arbanassi Summer Music (Bulgaria), the chamber music festival organized by her parents.

In her free time, Jana is passionate about photography and writing poems.
